We have some hand-made batiks and wood carvings that have been produced by local crafts people in The Gambia. We purchase these goods in The Gambia to ensure that a sensible price is paid to the crafts people as this is their main livelihood. We are not only supporting the nursery school but supporting the village and the country in their aims to becoming more financially independant.
We are unable to offer online ordering. If you would like a particular item then please contact us and we can reserve the item for you.

Batiks
Here are some of the batiks that we have for sale:
Care of your batik:
If you are using your batik as a wall hanging you may wish to wash it occasionally. We have found that a gentle wash in luke-warm water, followed by a gentle spin and then left to dry naturally. Ironing whilst slightly damp seems to produce the best result.

All these items are handcrafted. The bowls are carved (rather than turned). Sometimes a stain is applied before being polished.
