Here are some of the photographs of the Take Care Nursery School at Farato-Sotokoi-Daru

The main school building. It was built in 2004 and houses the Level 2 and Level 3 classrooms, the headmasters office and a small storeroom.
Each of the classrooms will have approximately 50 children

This is the Level 2 classroom. The children have no desks and currently only have benches to sit on.

This is the Level 1 classroom. The youngest children in the school are in this block. This is the latest building to be completed.

This is the inside of the Level 1 classroom. This classroom will accomodate up to approximately 50 children and again there are currently no desks and only benches for the children to sit on.

The Level 3 classroom for the oldest children has desks and chairs. In order to improve the education of the children we want to be able to supply teaching aids, such as posters and pictures, to assist the teachers.

There is no toilet block on site. Toilet facilities are an earth closet surrounded by corrugated iron that is at the back of the Level 2 classroom. A toilet block is required and for that water will also be required - the current well is dried up and a new well will be required.

This is the dried-up well that is on the school site. It has a barbed wire cover to prevent the children falling down it. When it is re-dug it will require a higher rim for safety and in the longer term a pump to supply the water to the school.

Ant and Karen with Momodou (deputy headmaster) and Bakary (headmaster). This is in the headmasters office (the store room behind is even smaller!)

And some more recent photos:

Teachers and children with the containers for drinking water for each of the classrooms and also cement bought to repair the floor of one of the classrooms.

Temporary improvements to the latrine.

The new well - it is 25 metres deep. It is lined with concrete rings. It is close to the kitchen - see above for when it was first started.
